The Forge/Men's Ministry
Every Fall, the guys trek West to the Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania for "Expedition", MVCC's annual men’s retreat at White Sulphur Springs. Some call it God's Country, and with good reason, as the peaceful deep woods and rugged terrain are the perfect setting to bond and glorify Jesus. Emotional personal testimony, large group praise, and small group discussion are the focus of this weekend of worship, highlighted by evening campfires, games of skill and strength, and great food. Each year the theme of Expedition is built around a single passage of scripture. More than 160-men typically attend, and there's always room for you.
"Thank God It's Friday" means a lot more than the day before the weekend starts, it's the day our guys get together to study and discuss the Bible in a comfortable, informal setting. We start at 6:30am with good coffee, donuts, and "the occasional breakfast burrito" and then dive into a little worship music and scripture, followed by small group discussion. Praising the Lord and bonding with brothers; a great way to start your Friday. We meet downstairs, in The PIT. All men are welcome.
MVCC Discipleship Triads facilitate meeting the vision of our church: "Making Fully Devoted Followers of Jesus," through relationships, following the example of Jesus. A Triad is a group of three men who together aspire to become self-initiating, reproducing, fully devoted followers of Jesus through a relationship built on the truth of God's Word, transparent trust, and mutual accountability. Our hope and prayer is that spiritually mature men will surely, by the grace of God, reach and serve their neighbors, the next generation, and the nations for Jesus Christ.
Once every three months, we scramble a lot of eggs, cook up a bunch of bacon and sausage, brew some great Joe, and break out the dunkers. Good food for the body, followed by the soul-nourishing goodness of The Word, relayed by one of our pastors. Another event where we share our faith and fellowship with men of all ages and backgrounds. Bring your Bibles, a friend or two, and a healthy appetite. Our next breakfast is scheduled for early Fall. Stay tuned for more details.
