OverView

Did you know that you are not here by accident? In fact, not only are you created by God, but you were given a divine purpose to follow Christ and serve him. At the View, we do everything we can to help students discover their God-given purpose and grow into fully devoted followers of Jesus.

What Is The View?

the_view_logo
The View is a bunch of students and adults, who gather regularly to have fun, build relationships and discover how to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

We come from a variety of schools and neighborhoods and are a pretty diverse group of people. But as a group we share a common goal -- to be a community of young people who love God and who share that love with others. That's why we exist. And actually, whether you know it or not yet, it's why you exist, too!

Our Purpose

We want The View to be a student ministry where we all…

  • Look Deeper at our relationship with Jesus with honesty
  • Look After each other as friends with love
  • Look Higher by worshiping God together with passion
  • Look Lower as we serve others with humility
  • Look Wider by inviting others to follow Jesus with grace
  • Look Forward to playing our part in God’s kingdom with joy

Our Programs

Morning View

Have you ever considered the time you spend in school learning the primary crops of Malawi and the breeding habits of Australian water fowl? Now consider how much time you spend learning about your creator (God) and his word (the Bible). That’s why Morning View is so important. It’s Sunday School, only better!

At Morning View, we want to help our students follow God well by knowing his word well. Using a great curriculum from Student Life, we are covering all the major parts of the Bible in 6 years, giving students a solid foundation for a lifetime of following Christ. We meet every Sunday morning (September through May) from 9:15 - 10:15 am in the following classrooms:

  • Middle School meets in room F-134
  • High School meets in room F-131

Middle School Ministry

W O W (Wise on Wednesday)
WOW meets every Wednesday night except the first one of the month (September through May) from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at the Mee's house near Urbana. WOW features crazy games, creative Bible teaching, snacks and small groups.

Everybody goes home saying "Wow, that was cool and I'm glad I was there!" It’s a great place to develop close friendships and a place where you are missed when you aren’t there!

Directions: From Rt. 80 east of Urbana, turn north on Prices Distillery Road (by St. Ignatius Catholic Church). The Mee's is on the left, 4334 Prices Distillery Road, 301-865-8285. Look for our parking attendants on the left.

High School Ministry

S O S (Stoked on Sunday)
Our weekly senior high ministry exists to "stoke" students to follow Christ and live authentic Christian lives in a challenging culture. We meet every Sunday night (September through May) from 6:30 - 8:45 pm at 11210 Bramblewood Court in Ijamsville (Windsor Knolls Development). Doors open at 6:30 for food and video games, and our gathering begins around 7:00pm.

SOS features worship lead by students, "God Sightings," captivating teaching, small groups and lots of time to hang out and eat. It's all good! SOS is a safe haven and a source of refreshment for many high school students. We talk about stuff that matters, laugh a lot, and help each other discover what it means to be children of God.

Directions: The Landon House is located at 3401 Urbana Pike (at the intersection of Rt. 355 & Rt. 80).

Epicenter

Epicenter (Acts 4:31) is the brainchild of some local youth pastors who started praying for God to do something amazing in our community of students. On the last Sunday of each month, we gather with students from many area youth ministries for Epicenter. It’s like SOS on steroids, as hundreds of students representing every high school in Frederick County gather for encouragement and worship. It’s from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Oakdale Middle School.

Pastor Steve and the View have been part of the creation of Epicenter, and we are actively involved in this amazing “God-thing.” A link to the new Epicenter website will appear here soon.
