OUR NEW CHURCH IS COMPLETED!

On August 20th Frederick County approved our occupancy permit allowing us to move into and occupy our new church! All praise and glory to the Lord!! Furniture for all the various spaces will beginning arriving immediately. That will include 400 new chairs for our worship center, new furniture for our upper lobby area, a coffee bar, a stage for the worship center and furniture and a pool table for our youth center (aka “The Pit”). Our first services are scheduled for Sunday September 19th. There will be a lot going on between now and then as our church offices will be moved at the end of August and many meetings will be taking place to get organized and prepared for what will be awesome worship time, learning time and spirit-filled activities. Our Grand Opening is scheduled for Sunday, October 24th. We are looking forward to getting settled and serving God by reaching people for Christ!

Please continue to pray for the protection of all of the workers that they may complete the construction of our church safely. Also, pray that in the coming weeks all final work will be completed on time and that the inspections would go smoothly. Lastly, and most importantly, let’s lift our praises to God for how He has blessed us with this new church and for the lives that will be reached for Christ as a result!

Exterior building nearly done!

As you can see from the photos, the exterior of our new church is almost completed. What remains is mostly cosmetic in terms of walkways, finish paving and landscaping. In fact, most of the interior work is completed as well. The ceiling is being finished in our Worship Center. In other areas lights, drop ceilings, and bathroom fixtures are being installed and the carpeting will soon began to be installed. We are excited at the prospect of moving in within the next several weeks!

However, once we get occupancy we’re not done. All the chairs for the Worship Center and classrooms, and the furniture for the classrooms, Youth Center, offices, and lobby areas need to be delivered and set up. Also, the stage area in the Worship Center, the snack bar for the Youth Center and the Coffee Bar for the upper lobby area all need to be built and installed. We even have some additional wiring to put in so that we are technologically up-to-date and equipped with high speed internet, cable TV, WiFi, etc. However, with all of this yet to be done, we will be worshiping in our new church before you know it!

As of the beginning of March construction continues in full swing despite some very challenging winter weather. Despite all of the snow our contractor Brechtbill & Hellman has managed to keep the construction moving along! Praise God for their dedication and also for their continued safety!

As you can see from the most recent pictures the structure is mostly enclosed. That will allow the workers to continue finishing the inside without regard to the weather. Most of the block walls for the interior are finished and much of the framing is completed as well. Our new facility teams (interior and exterior) continue to be diligently at work with the architect and builder on many facets of our church construction.

Soon the contractors will complete the roof and building exterior. If all goes according to plan we hope to take occupancy and begin moving into our new church building in early Summer. Please continue to pray and praise God for his many blessings, the safety of the workers and the continued efforts of our church volunteers!

Prayer Meeting at MVCC Land

On Sunday, October 4th many gathered at the new facility site to help "lay a foundation of prayer" and give thanks to God for his continued faithfulness, provision and direction.

Please pray for safety of the construction crew and for quick approval of the building permit.

God answered many prayers as the concrete footers were recently poured. Please continue praying for quick review of the revised site plan so construction can begin in earnest.

Where’s the Entrance?

The ground was “sopping wet” as crews worked to make the Construction Entrance to MVCC’s property. Next step is to gravel the entrance. “The house of the LORD God is to be here….” 1 Chronicles 22:1

Pending final approvals, construction equipment was brought on-site. Please pray for the safety of all the people as they begin working on MVCC’s land.

Groundbreaking Day!

Dig this! After the 9/14/2008 church service at Urbana High School, folks drove over to park on MVCC's land overlooking Sugarloaf Mountain on a hot sunny day. Over 100 people circled the planned foundation of MVCC's building for a ceremonial breaking of the ground. Even the general contractor for construction attended. Adults brought their own shovels, and all the children were provided small blue "MVCC" shovels. Brief prayer was led by all ages (i.e. child, teen, adult), thanking Him for His blessings to our church and asking that the new facility would be used to honor Him. Then, on the count of three, everyone simultaneously pierced the ground. With this experience, we all shared in beginning to build a legacy!

Groundbreaking Approved!

At our Congregational Meeting on June 22, the congregation unanimously approved to break ground this fall! Groundbreaking is tentatively scheduled for September 14!

Four areas have been identified as dependencies for breaking ground, which is currently projected for early summer 2008. Here is an update on each of the four areas:

Make progress towards Staffing needs:

Pursuing a full time Pastor of Community and Discipleship (search committee has been formed, position has been advertised, interviewing will begin soon)
Pursuing a part time Praise and Worship Leader (search committee being formed)

Obtain Financing options for the building:

Three proposals in hand to be evaluated closer over the next few months

Monitor progress of Stewardship campaign:

Currently 56% into three year campaign, 38% of pledged funds have been received. Need giving level to move to 55% of pledges by 3/15/08, or stop to re-evaluate timing.

Advance through the Design process:

Architect has been released to finish the design drawings
Building size is approximately 30,000 square feet
